My desktop icons disappeared after I used KidZui

If KidZui is closed unexpectedly (if the browser crashes or your computer is powered off, for example), this can result in your desktop icons and taskbar disappearing. To resolve this issue, please follow these steps.

  1. Please open KidZui. Note that if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you will need to open KidZui via the Locked KidZui icon. Since this icon is located on your desktop, you will have to use Windows Explorer to locate it. To do so, click the Windows icon, then click your Windows ID (located at the top of the right column). Double-click the Desktop folder, then click the Locked KidZui icon.
  2. After KidZui loads, exit the browser normally (you will be required to enter your parent password to do so).
  3. Log out of your Windows account or restart your computer. The next time you log into Windows, your desktop icons should be restored.

The steps above will normally restore your desktop, but if you continue to have trouble, please follow the steps below.

  1. Restart your computer in Safe Mode. To do so, press the F8 key while your computer is starting up, just before the Windows logo appears (you can press the F8 key multiple times).
  2. Select Safe Mode with Networking.
  3. Open your Windows/Start menu (if your task bar is not visible, the Windows key on your keyboard should allow you to bring up the menu).
  4. Select All Programs, then the KidZui folder, then click the Uninstall icon.
  5. Follow the instructions on your screen to remove KidZui.
  6. Restart your computer normally. Your desktop should be restored.
