OS X issues
So this used to work, not sure what's happened lately. I have parental controls setup on my daughters account. I have allowed Firefox as an application and have limited the number of sites she can visit. She used to be able to login to the Firefox app just fine, but now it never logs in. I can see her username and "points" but it never completes login anymore.
I have read the thread that explains how to uninstall and reinstall as an admin account, but has something changed in the last year where she used to be able to login to KidZui even without being an admin account? Is there something else I need to allow in OS X parental controls to make this work for us? I don't want to make her account an admin account, for obvious reasons, and I don't want her jumping on the computer on one of our accounts if we're not around with complete open access to the internet either. Is there a way to make KidZui work WITH the OS X parental controls feature?
On other related note: the desktop app for OS X is completely different, apparently, and she has the ability to change the age level herself. :/ Not sure what function that serves, but it is quite strange that the FF app and desktop app for OS X are hardly even the same service.

Hi natedlee,
I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is having trouble logging into KidZui. I'd be happy to help!
In order for KidZui to connect with the OS-X parental controls enabled, you will need to approve access to the following URL:
https://ec2-75-101-149-115.compute-1.amazonaws.com
After approving access, your daughter should be able to progress past the login screen.
Regarding the OS-X desktop app, you've actually downloaded our brand new version of KidZui, which we are currently releasing on a limited basis. We've decided to re-focus the KidZui browser and make it even more fun and simple for children to use. With this version, children no longer need to sign up to use the browser - they can simply jump in and start exploring, just like with a regular web browser. Of course, the new browser still features all of our fun, exciting, and safe websites, videos and games.
If you would like to try the classic KidZui desktop app, this version is still available. Before installing the classic version, you will need to remove the new KidZui from your Mac. To do so, drag the app to the trash, then open your finder and navigate to Library > Preferences. Once there, locate any files that begin with com.kidzui and drag those to the trash as well. Empty the trash to remove KidZui, then visit the following address to download the classic version: http://www.kidzui.com/download/installer.
If you continue to have trouble logging in, please let us know.
Have a great day,
Dustin

Thanks so much for the tips - adding the url did the trick. My main concern
with the new desktop app is that any user can adjust the age
appropriateness. Will that be fixed in future releases?
Thanks!
Nate

Hi Nate,
In the old version of KidZui, age information was saved to the child's account. Naturally, since we have eliminated the need to create accounts, we had to come up with a new way to set this information. While we have no plans of changing the age selection interface at this time, should we determine that it's not an effective way of managing this information, we'll most definitely look into developing a more effective interface.
Thanks for your honest feedback!
