Using Zilladog email via Kidzui browser
Hello,
My kids have safe email accounts via Zilladog.net. They access their email accounts via their Kidzui browser. Unfortunately, when they access Zilladog this way, several keyboard issues arise. They are not able to do a hard return. (The "enter" key will not advance them to the next line.) Also, when they hit the backspace key the cursor backs-up and deletes two characters (or spaces) instead of the normal one space/character. I tested Zilladog on their computer outside of Kidzui (using Explorer) and it worked, so I am fairly certain this is a Kidzui conflict. Could you please look into it for me? We really like both products ---- Kidzui and Zilladog and would love if they worked well together!
Thank you!

Hi Maggie,
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. This issue actually affects text boxes on all websites within KidZui, and we are currently looking into the cause of the issue so that we can correct it. We'll make sure to let you know as soon as we've managed to correct the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Have a great day,
Dustin

I can confirm that this problem still exists as of 3/6/11 (unless there is a Kidzui update that I'm unaware of?) Thanks.

I'm afraid this is still an outstanding issue, jancarikpub. While we are still working to resolve the issue, I'm afriad it has not been one that we've prioritized, seeing as we have approved a very small number of websites that contain text fields. We do expect to resolve the issue, but I'm afraid I'm unable to provide an estimate as to when it might be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Thanks,
Dustin

It too bad, because the only feature tht Kidzui is missing is a secure email for little kids... Zilladog seems like a perfect match for Kidzui .. Is there another secure email service that works within Kidzui (an email service tht only allow kids to send/receive email from a parent created and monitored "white-list" ??

Hi Rick,
Unfortunately, the issue lies with the KidZui Browser rather than ZillaDog's website, so I can't recommend any alternatives - the same issue would be present among other email sites. I will speak with the rest of the KidZui Team to see if we can give this issue priority over some of the other issues/projects we have in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks,
Dustin

The threads on Kidzui mention that it is a problem with Kidzui's handling of
text boxes. Apparently, Kidzui is aware of the problem but have said that
they have no intension of addressing the issue at this time... I was hoping
that there was some type of work-around. I've tried shift-enter, ctrl-enter,
alt-enter, shift-ctrl-enter, etc... Can you think of some sort of key
combination that would move the cursor down to the next line?
Also.. it would be nice if the buddy name appeared in the inbox instead of
the real email address (or am I missing something).
Regards, Rick

Hi Rick,
The browser appears to not be recognizing "Enter" keystrokes in text-fields, so I'm afraid the line-return modifiers that use the Enter key will not work either. Sadly, I'm not familiar with any key combinations that would create a line break that don't use the enter key.
One work-around that should work is to have your child type up an email in a word processor and then copy & paste it (using the Ctrl+V shortcut to paste) into the email body field in ZillaDog. To easily do this, you'll have to set KidZui to run in windowed mode, so it's not really an option if you have the "password required to exit" feature set in KidZui's parental controls.
Finally, in regards to the buddy name appearing in the Inbox, that sounds like something you'll want to contact ZillaDog to discuss. We don't have any control over how saved contact info appears in ZillaDog's inbox.
Thanks!
Dustin
